Monolithic Slab On Grade - a single layer of concrete 4-8" thick, poured all at one time. Compacted dirt and gravel act as a base for the slab. Vapor barrier and wire mesh is installed to protect and strengthen the concrete. Slab foundations are a more cost effective option for home builders in warmer climates. Slabs are excellent for metal building structures and tract homes or subdivisions because it's more cost efficient versus a crawlspace.

Crawlspace Foundation - a foundation constructed two feet above grade as stem walls or on pier and beams. Crawlspace foundations are normally used most in areas with high humidity or moisture content. This option also allows for added space below your home for utility access and repairs. It extends your storage square footage also. The preferred method and the most solid and durable outcome, especially when brick and block are used in combination.

Crawlspace Foundation Block Wall

Basement - The most expensive option, combining components of both slab and crawlspace foundations. Usually, the basement floor is a slab and in our area block foundation is typically used for the walls. The perk for basement foundations is that you add heated square footage to your home at a reduced price. You can even create a daylight basement where there is at least one window and an access door to be able to walk out!
